Order of the Amber Veil
"Through shadow, we endure. Through flame, we are reborn."
Overview
The Order of the Amber Veil was founded in the aftermath of the Calamity by a handful of survivors who found one another in the ruins of a Thanalan waystation. What began as a loose band of wanderers has grown into a tightly-knit company bound by shared loss and a stubborn refusal to let the realm's darkness go unanswered. The Order operates in the grey — taking work that others will not, asking questions that others dare not, and standing between the innocent and the things that hunt them in the dark.
Lore Notes
The 'Amber Veil' refers to a phenomenon the founders witnessed on the night of the Calamity — a strange amber light that hung over the ruins of their camp for three days before fading. None of them have ever found a satisfactory explanation. The company's crest incorporates a stylised flame behind a gauze veil, rendered in gold and deep violet.
Ranks
The hierarchy of the company, from newest recruit to commanding officer.
Initiate
Newly accepted members still proving their worth to the Order. Given limited access to company resources and assigned a mentor from the senior ranks.
Warden
Full members who have completed their trial period. Trusted with company contracts and access to the main hall.
Sentinel
Experienced members who have distinguished themselves in service. May lead smaller operations and mentor Initiates.
Veilkeeper
Senior officers who help shape the direction of the Order. Sit on the company council and hold keys to the inner vault.
Dawnblade
The company's leader. Holds final authority over all Order decisions and is the keeper of the founding charter.
Recruitment
The Order accepts adventurers of all races and disciplines, provided they can demonstrate competence, discretion, and a willingness to work alongside others. We do not require a clean past — only an honest one. Prospective members should seek out any Warden or above in the Goblet and request an audience with the Dawnblade.
